MyHealthConnect gains international press

The BCATPR made international headlines this week with our MyHealthConnect chronic disease management program. An in-depth interview with BCATPR team lead Dr. Scott Lear, featured in International Innovation by Research Media, discusses the past and future of MyHealthConnect.

MyHealthConnect, the internet-based system for managing multiple chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart failure, and chronic kidney disease, supports patients between doctor visits. It is a low-cost program with telephone supports from a nurse who responds to any patient alerts that are created by the system.

This method of health care monitoring may be especially helpful in rural and small urban areas that lack easy access to a hospital or healthcare professionals. Dr. Lear considers this program very promising not only for Canada, but for many other countries, especially those that have yet to establish strong healthcare infrastructure.
